When you say you want a "realistic" understanding of God, salvation, ect., what exactly are you looking for and/or expecting to find? What do you mean by "realistic"? I could write a book and make predictions that there will be earth quakes, huricanes, etc. I could make the same types of predictions. None of that stuff sounds out of the ordinary for life on earth.
